Shravanabelagola (Śravaṇa Beḷagoḷa) is a town situated close Channarayapatna of Hassan region in the Indian province of Karnataka and is 144 km from Bangalore, the capital of the state. The Gommateshwara Bahubali statue at Shravanabelagola is a standout amongst the most vital tirthas (journey goals) in Jainism, one that achieved a crest in design and sculptural action under the support of Western Ganga administration of Talakad. Chandragupta Maurya is said to have kicked the bucket here in 298 BCE after he turned into a Jain priest and expected a self-denying way of life.
