Overview

The Indian Agricultural Research Institute, typically pronounced as the Pusa Institute is the India’s best and well-known state-level institute for agricultural research and education. The institute is registered under UCG act of 1956 and offers degrees like M.Sc. and Ph.D. in many agricultural disciplines. The improvement and growth in the agriculture in our country in the past few decade, is remarkably connected with the researches done and technologies produced by the Institute.

To be found in the capital city Delhi, it is sponsored and directed by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR). The Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI) was honored for the research prominent to the "Green Revolution in India" for the year 1970s.

The institution was formerly started in the year 1905 at Pusa, Bihar, as Agricultural Research Institute (ARI), and therefore named as Pusa Institute, the name was altered with Imperial Institute of Agricultural Research in the year 1911 and then again in the year 1919, it was renamed as the Imperial Agricultural Research Institute. The campus is spread over 500 hectares of green landscape and the building is designed very beautifully. Initially, the building of the institute was outside capital city-Delhi, but after some time, Delhi city has grown much beyond the camps.   

IARI-Administration

The administrative and technical head is Dr. Trilochan Mohapatra who is also a director of IARI. The Board of Management with Dr. Trilochan Mohapatra, assisted by 4 Councils, and they are

-Research Advisory Council
-Academic Council
-Extension Council
-Executive Council,

They render the overall management direction and thus vital for IARI.

Facilities available at Indian Agricultural Research Institute

Online Examination: As today students like online examination procedure Indian Agricultural Research Institute provide online examination Centre. Presently it has 23 online examination Centre at different ICAR Institutes and Data Centre at ASRB, New Delhi, India.

IARI, New Delhi is one of the best and famous online examinations destination with a capacity of about 120 apprentices at a time. The hall is fully air-conditioned and have proper sitting arrangements.

Library Services: As books are the most important in schools and institute. IARI Library is one of the biggest and the finest agro biological libraries in India. The library has more than 6 lacks collection of agro biological books and many more. 

campus Placement : As the placement is most vital and essential phase of professional courses, students are provided complete placement assistanct by the institute.
